Solar Trust of America, a rapidly growing solar power plant company headquartered in Oakland, CA, has an immediate opening available for a full time Regional Policy Analyst. This position is charged with supporting the Director of Regional Government Affairs in examining the implications of state-level legislative and regulatory policy in CA and NV on Solar Trust of America’s siting, permitting, and other project development efforts.

The ideal candidate will have a background in renewable energy policy and be familiar with various state-level legislative and regulatory bodies and processes. The analyst will also have strong analytical, research, writing and communication skills and the proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and respond effectively to management needs for information and assistance This is an excellent opportunity to grow your career to the next level and make an impact in a fast paced and dynamic work environment.


· Track and analyze relevant developments from Public Utilities Commissions, transmission operators (i.e. CAISO), office of the Governor, and legislature (1st tier) and permitting and wildlife agencies (i.e. CDFG, CEC, BLM and USFWS) (2nd tier).

· Outline potential policy scenarios and assess the likely impact of each scenario

· Draft internal policy analysis documents to advise project teams regarding policy proposals and decisions, upcoming events, new rules or potential legislative outcomes

Develop advocacy documents for lobbying and outreach efforts

· Collaborate with outside counsel to develop company response on key legislative and regulatory matters

· Additional duties as required


· Bachelor’s degree in public policy, government affairs or related discipline required

· Advanced degree in a relevant area preferred

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Substantive understanding of state level legislative and regulatory policy making processes

· 3+ years of professional work experience in policy, regulatory and/or government affairs

In depth knowledge of the renewable energy industry (solar industry knowledge preferred)
Exceptional research, analytical, and organizational skills

· Ability to perform in an ever changing political landscape and a fast paced office environment

· Entrepreneurial and energetic approach to the job

· Competency with common office software (PC) and electronic communications

Position Details:

This position will be based in our Oakland, California office and will report to the Director of Regional Government Affairs. Salary is commensurate with experience.
